Art Basel and Design Miami are preparing new Parisian editions
Modern art and design? But yes ! Earlier this week, Art Basel and MCH Group unveiled their plan to create a new contemporary and modern art fair in Paris. Beginning in October, the first edition will take place at the pop-up Grand Palais Éphémère before moving to the restored Grand Palais in 2024. Hot on the heels of that announcement, Design Miami announced today that it too is taking a Francophile turn, with plans to launch its own event to coincide with the new fair. Additionally, the organization introduced Maria Cristina Didero as Global Curatorial Director, as well as the show’s planned curatorial theme: The Golden Age.

Savoir shares its first vegan mattress
The craftsmen at Savoir assembled what they dubbed the “recipe for better sleep,” resulting in a new mattress crafted from a list of all-vegan “ingredients.” Moving away from the general use of synthetic fibers and memory foam, the new Reformer NohThe 4v mattress uses bamboo, natural linen and tampico fibers, and cotton to create a plant-based sleeper that provides temperature-regulated sleep, naturally.
Zak + Fox and Jamb create a collaboration not to be missed
This week marks the official start of London-based lighting, furniture and fireplace manufacturer Jamb’s year-long residency at Zak + Fox’s showroom in New York. For the first time ever, designers across the United States will be able to see Jamb’s reproduction furniture in person, upholstered in Zak + Fox’s latest line of fabrics, no less, as well as more than 30 handcrafted lighting fixtures by the company.
Designer Tyler Hill launches limited edition workshop
Washington, D.C.-based interior designer Tyler Hill’s artful interplay of light, materials and sophisticated forms are on full display in the launch of Transparent Atelier, a furniture and lighting brand that debuts with 10 pieces of brutalist inspiration. Oil rubbed bronze, smoked mirror glass, alabaster and more contribute to the finesse of the Italian-made collection.
BADG partners with Pottery Barn
In other product news, two exciting debuts are certainly big ones not to miss. Today, pottery barn launched its inaugural collection with the Black Artists + Designers Guild, commonly referred to as BADG. The “pieces reflect our uniqueness, resilience and strength,” collection designers and BADG members Penny Francis, Casi St. Julian and Lisa Turner said in a statement.
