Buda woman, 104, donates books to children’s library

BUDA, Texas — What would you give a woman who just turned 104? That’s a pretty easy answer.

This is because it is better to give than to receive. Mrs. Betty Davis walked into Tom Green Elementary in Buda to prove this Friday morning. She headed straight for the school library with a gift

“They’re children,” Betty asked her accompanying son.

“Yes, they came to see you, Mother,” he replied.

“How wonderful,” she said back.

You see, she has special things for the kids here. It all started with his 104th birthday in November.

“She said she would like to collect 104 books for a local children’s library, but we have reached our goal and have 255 books for all of you, because of Betty’s birthday,” said one of the staff. the facility where Betty lives.

It was also his chance to connect, share his stories and his special talents with these children.

“A long time ago I was still a child, you can’t imagine what I did to make other people happy,” Betty said. “I say the alphabet backwards.”

“Z, Y, X, W, V, U, T, S, R, Q, P, O, N, M, L, K, J, I, H, G, F, E, D, C, B , A,” she recited.

Because, for Betty’s birthday, it was better to give a book and receive a smile.

“Because it’s so much better to be happy with people,” she said.
