Each week, BusinessDesk and the NZ Herald’s Cooking the Books podcast tackle a different financial issue. Today is how to make the self-employed life work for you. Hosted by Frances Cook.
It’s a dream for many people: to start your own business and be your own boss.
In an ideal world, it allows you to focus on the projects you find most fulfilling and say no to the work you always suspected was a waste of time anyway.
Starting your own business can also be a great way to increase your wealth because if you do well, you keep all the rewards in your own pocket.
But the process of starting your own business means you take on all the risk, as well as all the possible rewards.
Many also embark on the life of self-employment and find that the reality of the working day is very different from what they expected.
So what’s the advice from someone who’s done all of this and is willing to share the good, the bad, and the ugly?
You’ve probably seen her on TV or heard her on the radio, and now she’s ready to share how she keeps her business running.
For the last podcast, I spoke to broadcaster Brodie Kane.
