Fast-growing Indian street food concept shows just how flexible its footprint is with new locations planned for student union zones at Stanford University and University of California, San Diego
San Francisco, California (RestaurantNews.com) Curry Up Now, India’s largest and fastest growing fast-food concept in the country, known for its innovative and playful take on Indian cuisine, has signed leases within the student unions of two well-known California universities. Curry Up Now will soon be part of Stanford University’s Tressider Memorial Union dining options for students and faculty. The second location is planned for the Price Center at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), which serves as a busy campus center for students.
Over the past decade, husband-and-wife co-founders Akash and Rana Kapoor have expanded the Curry Up Now empire to include three food trucks, 14 physical restaurants coast-to-coast, and multiple digital kitchen outposts in national scale. These two leases mark the first on-campus locations for the popular fast-casual restaurant chain.
“Curry Up Now is ready for its campus debut. We are honored to be part of these vibrant communities and look forward to wow the student body. I know our menu items full of flavor and fun at an affordable price will become a favorite among UCSD and Stanford University students,” said Akash Kapoor, Founder, CEO and Chef Troublemaker for Curry Up Now. . “As Curry Up Now continues to grow, these on-campus locations especially demonstrate the flexibility of the restaurant concept. We can easily convert existing restaurant spaces and operate from 300 square feet to 3,500 square feet. This shows how dynamic our brand is from the perspective of consumer interests and the economy of unity. »
The UCSD location operates in a 1,400 square foot kitchen space with walk-in orders and general seating available in the price center. The opportunity to open on campus stems from a special request from the student union several years ago. UCSD students identified Curry Up Now as a desirable brand and concept to include in on-campus dining options and the restaurant concept went through a formal nominating and voting process for consideration .
The Tressider Memorial Union is centrally located on the Stanford University campus, within walking distance of Stanford Law School, the Stanford Bookstore, and the Braun Music Center.
