Via an incredible online world premiere this afternoon, Damen Yachting has launched the brand new addition to its Amels limited editions. A launch like no other, the 1:10 scale (8m) model was showcased through a unique choreographed dance performance. Having an exclusive preview of the new range, Managing Director, Rose Damen, Product Manager, Adriaan Roose, Exterior Designer, Espen Øino and Interior Designer, Paul Costerus, spoke to the press, after the revelation.
Meticulously crafted by world renowned yacht designer Espen Øino, the design behind the Amels 80 was influenced by the beauty and resilience of the world around us. According to Rose, “The Amels 80 is inspired by nature and the oceans we all know and love.”
With a sleek white superstructure, the yacht’s curvaceous profile, is, ‘a design that will not age’ Espen commented. “Her strong, modern lines will be as beautiful 10 years from now as the day she leaves the yard. She is everything and more you would expect from an 80 meter yacht. There is a sense of scale, but nothing is wasted.‘
Outside, the Amels 80 has a large 200 m² solarium, a large swimming pool and two jacuzzis, as well as numerous areas for dining and lounging in the open air. Inside, an expansive beach club with openings on three sides, a wellness spa, gym, conservatory and six guest cabins occupy her accompanying generous interior volume. 2,175 gross tonnage. The Amels 80 additionally features a fully operational helipad aft, allowing owners to carry a private helicopter while cruising. Espen commented on the impressive size of the yacht: “An Amels 80 is only 20m longer than an Amels 60, but in terms of volume you’re talking almost three times as big.”
Combining over a century of design and construction experience, the Amels 80 is an impressive example of the shipyard’s expert capabilities. Rose revealed that the 80m has been carefully created to be an amazing experience yacht: “Typical Amels customers like to bring their close friends and family on board, this has to be a family yacht you can live on, that not only looks beautiful, but can be your home away from home. away from home.”
The modern and sumptuous interior of the Amels 80 is the result of a new collaboration with the Dutch studio Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design. The range is expected to exceed customer expectations with full customization on board.
Paul Costerus, Partner and Principal Designer at Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, commented on the yacht’s outstanding interior features: “The beach club is one of the amazing spaces inside this yacht, but also the spa area next door, which includes a massage room, gym and sauna. The atrium is also great because on all levels, starting from the main deck, there are vast windows where daylight can freely enter.
Most notably, Amels 80 has an extremely impressive dedicated proprietary deck, which Paul says is ‘an apartment all to itself. The private deck features a forward-facing owner’s cabin, bathroom, walk-in closet and full-beam (12.5m) owner’s lounge, as well as private outdoor space.
She will comfortably accommodate 14 people, including the large suite on the dedicated owner’s deck, as well as six guest cabins on her main deck, which can be configured to the owner’s personal preferences.
