For the second phase of Ram’s “Built to Serve” initiative, the truckmaker is releasing a special-edition 2022 Ram 1500 Built to Serve Firefighter Edition.
The new truck joins a growing line of Ram Build to Serve editions. For over 2 years in a row, the company has rolled out five special edition trucks, one for each branch of the US military. The Firefighter Edition is the first installment of the current phase, with trucks honoring police officers and emergency medical service providers to follow.
“After honoring every branch of the United States Armed Forces with our initial ‘Built to Serve’ models, we felt it would be equally important to also express our gratitude to all first responders who serve or have served our communities,” said Ram CEO Mike Koval. in a press release.
“Whether first responders or civilians, Ram truck owners know this adage very well because it’s something we strive to incorporate into every truck and van we produce.”
The company plans to offer two low-volume exterior paint choices for each vehicle that evoke the spirit of this service, Redline and Diamond Black.
Other unique styling cues include an all-black grille and surround bumper. The 20-inch aluminum wheels are finished in Tech Grey. There are also body color flares. Black badges, wheel-to-wheel side steps and dual four-inch exhaust tips accent the exterior.
Built to Serve editions are available in all body and box styles, as well as powertrain options.
Each special edition truck will feature stitching colors that match the service being honored. On this one, orange stitching is present inside.
Velcro panels embroidered with “Built to Serve” mark the front seat and front seat inboard shoulder panels for customer customization. Drivers can apply their own patches, flags, name tapes and slogans.
PALS/MOLLE (Pouch Attachment Ladder System/Modular Lightweight Load-Carrying Equipment) webbing covers the front seat back panels for attaching additional gear.
The Built to Serve Edition interior also gets Onyx Black chrome trim, performance cloth and vinyl sport seats, “Built to Serve” dash badge and all-weather rubber floor mats .
A lockable console storage is optional.
