Johanna Ortiz’s craftsmanship shines through her new collection

Johanna Ortiz pays homage to her rich Latin American cultural heritage in the Indira Pre-Fall 2022 collection. On the path to sustainability, Johanna Ortiz has worked with conscious cotton poplins, linens, viscose jacquards and pima knits. There are also classic textured silks beaded with shimmering gold and silver sequins that give garments a sultry touch with a subtle handmade sparkle.

For Pre-Fall 2022, Johanna Ortiz collaborated with Argentinian brand Rocio G, known for their beautiful leather craftsmanship. The collaboration includes leather-embellished vests that are described by the designer as a “jewel top.” Seashell weaves intertwine around the collection enhancing the ethnic touch of Argentinian South American flair.

There are also hand-embroidered shell necklaces that reflect the designer’s love of shells, featuring approximately 160 hand-sewn puka shells. Finally, there are handcrafted leather tote bags with Johanna Ortiz’s iconic handles in braided cords, combined with iconic fabrics woven by the indigenous Wichi community in Argentina, and Iraca pieces woven by “Las Juanas”. , a community of artisans in Colombia.
