There might not be a creator whose work would seem less suited to children’s tales than the master of horror himself Junji Ito, but all the same, it looks like some of Ito’s stories will be. translated for the younger generation! With one of Ito’s most popular stories, Uzumaki, being made into his own animated series on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim, Junji is set to become even more popular than he was before and as weird as it may be, a children’s book would broadcast his work to one. brand new audience.
Junji Ito has been a manga artist for decades, creating some of the most popular manga horror stories such as the aforementioned. Uzumaki, as well as the likes of Tomie and Gyo. While his work has yet to be translated for the younger generation, he would certainly be in good company when it comes to short stories tailored to scare today’s kids. With books like Scary stories to tell in the dark and goosebumps having been tailor-made to terrify children for years, it is certainly possible to take Ito’s works at face value and make them for children. You would imagine that without Ito’s terrifying pencils, there is definitely some leeway to make his stories a little more tame.
Twitter user OtakuCalendarJP shared details of the upcoming adaptation of the novel which will take stories such as “The Long Dream” and “My Dear Ancestors” and make them sort of stories for kids to share in order to scare them:

Junji Ito recently made her debut on the Hollywood circuit, not only thanks in part to the upcoming animated adaptation of Uzumaki, but also with people like Tomi given a live-action adaptation that is currently in the works. While Ito’s stories stand the test of time, we expect to see more of his works adapted for television and on the big screen over the years.
