Handmade in France at the Angeac distillery, this ultra-premium gin is made from 11 different botanicals, many of which were discovered by Ferdinand de Magellan himself. 500 years ago, the great explorer made history by sailing around the globe, his goal being to open new routes for the supply of oriental spices to European palates.
Inspired by Magellan’s travels and adventures, Magellan Gin invites you to sail the deep blue sea with every sip and swirl. Magellan gin is distilled in small batches from 100% Capet wheat grains, as well as naturally filtered water from the Gensac spring in the Cognac region.
The plants are picked when ripe and dried in the sun. The gin is distilled three times using a column still and redistilled a fourth time using a small artisanal copper still, where the botanicals are infused. Next, the master distiller selects the “heart” of Magellan Gin, which is when the gin reaches perfection. This fresh distillation process captures the intricate and intricate flavors of fresh botanicals. For the finishing touch, Magellan is infused with natural iris root and flower, which creates the crunchy taste and beautiful blue color.
The result is a soft gin, where the dominant taste of juniper is balanced by spicy tones and ends with the floral notes of iris flower. As such, the alluring aroma of Magellan gin can be enjoyed in any classic gin cocktail.
Offered in a slender, painted bottle, Magellan gin lets you admire its unique color, with screen-printed images of irises and a sailboat from Magellan’s voyage.
