MARYLAND — Fans of “The Queen’s Gambit” can try their hand at reaching the final at Maryland’s first annual National Chess Day tournament. Players confident in their abilities can take part in one of the competition brackets, and newcomers can enroll in a beginner’s course.
If chess isn’t your thing, there are plenty of other ways to spend your time this weekend. Some highlights are a horse show, salsa dancing in the park, a talk by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Nikole Hannah-Jones at a literary festival, a dinosaur month paleontology field experience, and Moreover.
