Texas’ first Mici Handcrafted Italian arrives in Frisco.
The Denver-based company announced that the fast-casual Italian channel would be located at 8244 FM 423, Frisco, and is slated to open in June.
Mici’s menu includes pizza; pasta; salads; and desserts, such as ice cream and cannoli. Every meal is cooked to order, said Carlos Smith, owner of the Frisco restaurant.
Chief Growth Officer Matt Stanton said the Mici team works with local real estate brokers in all restaurant markets during the site selection process. Jack Weir of Dallas Shop Companies helped the chain choose Frisco, and Mici plans to open restaurants in McKinney and Prosper in the near future.
“Knowing the market so well, we loved how our brand fit in with Frisco,” Stanton said in an email. “Locals want high-quality Italian cuisine, but busy families also want food that’s convenient and easy to get through a great fast-casual dining experience, or delivery or takeout.”
As well as bringing a “concept of quality” to the region, Smith said he was excited to provide work-life balance for his management team. Managers at Mici’s Frisco site can expect a four-day work week.
“I wanted to do this because it’s not normal,” Smith said. “I want [my staff] understand that I appreciate their time at work. I respect their quality of life with their family.
Smith added that the shortened workweek would not affect managers’ pay.
Smith, who spent 28 years as an owner at Outback Steakhouse, said the Mici concept won him over because of the “great food” and emphasis on family.
“People will be very pleasantly surprised when they try the food,” Smith said. www.micitalian.com
