My Father Cigars adds two limited editions to the Le Bijou 1922 range

My Father Cigars celebrates what would have been the 100th birthday of José Garcia Alayón, the father of José “Pepín” Garcia, with a pair of limited editions for his Le Bijou 1922 line.

Called My Father Le Bijou 1922 100 Años Limited Edition, the cigars are said to use a slightly modified blend from that of the rest of the Le Bijou 1922 range. They remain Nicaraguan puros and use a very dark wrapper which the company calls “oscuro oscuro or “Habano My Father”. All the tobaccos used in the blend come from the García family’s San Rafael, Las Quebradas and San José farms and are described as unique for their aromas. The company said it undergoes a special fermentation process to release all the aromas and flavors the Garcia family were looking for in this blend.

They come in two sizes, a 5 1/2 x 48 Corona Extra and a 6 1/2 x 44 Corona Especial, the latter featuring a soft box press while the former is round. The two Get Pigtail capsules come in boxes of 22 units, with production limited to 1,922 boxes of each size, a nod to the year in which José Garcia Alayón was born. The cigars are made at the company’s factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, and will arrive with an orange ribbon around the stem that says 100 Años.

Pricing has yet to be announced, as has when they will be on store shelves, but the company said it hopes to have them on display and available to retailers at the upcoming PCA Convention & Trade Show. , which takes place in July.

My Dad Cigars made the announcement via cigar lover. Company representatives have yet to respond to an email requesting confirmation of the accuracy of this report.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – each cigar you light is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggles and stories. For me it’s more than the cigar – it’s the story behind it, the experience of appreciating the work of artisans and how a great cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with the half wheel, I am the PA announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as the Arizona Fall League Salt River Rafters , the Phoenix Mercury of the WNBA and the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I’m a voice-over artist. Previously, I covered the Phoenix and National cigar scene for Examiner.com, and served as an editor for cigar snob magazine.
