New editions of some of my older books

my latest book, eternal heart, was released last summer by Broadleaf. Broadleaf Books is a brand of 1517 Media, the publisher you may know best as Fortress Press and Augsburg Books. Working with Broadleaf has been a wonderful experience, and my relationship with them just got a little more “serious”.

Broadleaf recently acquired the rights to resume publication of five of my oldest books, including my bestselling, The Great Book of Christian Mysticism. The Broadleaf editions of these books were just released in November, and I recently received my “new” copies of these books. The illustrations and design are the same as before, but the new editions are still lovely: beautiful glossy white paper and a lovely matte finish on the cover, which makes the books really pleasing to the eye. In addition, a title — Invitation to Celtic Wisdom — has been republished in a slightly larger format.

Here are the books with new Broadleaf editions:

The text of the books themselves is the same as previous editions, so if you already own these books, there’s no need to rush out and buy new copies. But if you don’t own these books, please buy new (unused) copies, so you can get the beautiful new Broadleaf editions.

Affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, 1517 Media is one of the most respected Christian publishing houses. Broadleaf’s mission statement is to publish “books that expand minds, nourish souls, and cultivate the common good.” While Augsburg and Fortress titles tend to be more theological, academic, or church-specific, Broadleaf publishes books for the general public. Authors who have books with Broadleaf include Sophfronia Scott, Kaya Oakes, William Barber, Kate Rademacher, Gareth Higgins, Christine Valters Paintner, Brian D. McLaren, Julie Rodgers, Pádraigó Tuama and many more. I said having my book published by Broadleaf is like sitting at the table with all the cool kids – though, like all really cool kids, Broadleaf’s table is the kind of place where everyone is welcome, even a shy introverted contemplative old man like me.
