Debra-Dee Shelton and Sharon Thompson, a dynamic mother-daughter duo, have finished their new book, “Stripe N Strong”: a heartwarming children’s tale about loneliness and inclusion.
Thompson shares, “Stripe N Strong is a zebra who was in the circus and wasn’t sure what life was going to be like after the circus closed.
Things looked more hopeless for him when he found himself in a gray trailer hitched to the back of a Chevrolet Colorado heading to Georgia State.
Stripe N Strong’s journey from New York to Georgia was familiar but somewhat lonely.
On the other hand, Nia felt like the luckiest girl in the world to have Stripe N Strong as one of her pets.
The first night Stripe N Strong came home, Nia dreamed of all the pets walking through the woods.
While in the woods, Stripe N Strong rescued a teenager named George from Clayton County’s Shamrock Dam. Stripe N Strong ended up becoming a favorite. Not only did he save George from the dam, but he also treated George’s autistic brother, Derrick, to a zebra ride on the day the town had a fun day called Pirate Extravaganza.
Published by Covenant Books of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, Debra-Dee Shelton and Sharon Thompson’s new book is a brilliantly illustrated and imaginative tale that follows a lonely circus zebra on his journey to friendship, fun, and friendship. inclusion.
