Registration is now open for the Kentucky Derby Museum’s 37th Annual Horseing Around with Art (HAWA) Student Art Competition. HAWA is a juried contest where students can show their perspective on The Greatest Two Minutes in Sports®.
HAWA is open to public, private, or parochial students in Metro Louisville in grades 1-12. Any teacher or school representative is eligible to submit student artwork. A total of $6,300 is awarded to the art departments of the winning schools, and the artwork helps students build their college portfolios.
To participate, you must:
- Submit the HAWA registration form;
- Work at a public, private, or parochial school in Metro Louisville;
- Ensure that all HAWA artwork meets the contest specifications on the rules and regulations checklist (which will be sent after registration); and
- Deliver all HAWA artworks at once to the Kentucky Derby Museum in January and collect the artworks after the exhibition.
The deadline for online registration is October 28.
