From Spotsylvania County:
Spotsylvania’s Community Engagement and Tourism Department has released a children’s book titled “Find Your Spot” which follows a pup named “Spot” through an array of exciting destinations in Spotsylvania County. The book is an extension of the county’s “Find Your Spot” tourism campaign featuring popular Spotsy locations that encourages visitors to research the attractions and activities that are best for them. The book seeks to highlight some of Spotsylvania County’s unique tourist destinations.
“We want to bring some of Spotsylvania’s hidden gems to life in a fun, creative and unique format,” says Spotsylvania County Community Engagement and Tourism Manager Lindsay Leach. “Spotsylvania is a family destination and our aim is to draw attention to a few of the many things visiting families can experience while in the county. We also hope the kids and families who live here discover new destinations, activities, and fun things to do in Spotsy, because people tend to overlook things in their own backyards. Children will want to follow ‘Spot’ on exciting adventures and the book encourages quality family time with an appreciation of the many great opportunities available in Spotsylvania. Portraying this through the eyes of an adventurous, fun-loving pup resonates with kids and really draws them into the story.
The book is available for sale at the Spotsylvania Visitors Center, located at 4704 Southpoint Parkway for $15. The “Spot” plush dog that accompanies the book sells for $12. The book and plush can be purchased together for $22 and make a fun gift or keepsake for locals and visitors.
The Spotsylvania Visitor Center is giving away FREE bookmarks that include the destinations featured in the book as part of a limited time promotion. The public can visit each location and mark them on the bookmark, then return it to the visitor center for a FREE prize.
A “Find Your Spot Book Kick Off Party” is scheduled for Friday, August 5, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Spotsylvania County Museum, located at 6159 Plank Road. There will be tours, children’s activities, giveaways, vendors and an ice cream truck on site. Book readings are scheduled at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. “Find Your Place” books and plushies will also be available for purchase during the event.
