Fans have known for a while that Bethesda’s next RPG star field was going to be an ambitious game. Rather than relying on its already established franchises of To fall and Ancient Scrolls, star field is a brand new IP, with a vast galaxy filled with its own unique lore. A part of by Starfield scale that seemed daunting to fans at first was the announcement that the game would have over 1,000 planets for players to explore.
The reason why this star field The feature that left some members of the gaming community unhappy was the idea that due to the procedural generation of those 1,000 planets, there would be less crafted content than fans of Bethesda games are used to seeing. . However, in a recent interview, Bethesda director Todd Howard came forward to say that star field will have plenty of handcrafted content for players to enjoy, and that this will exist alongside the procedurally generated planets filling the game’s vast galaxy.
According to Howard, Bethesda has done “more craftsmanship in [Starfield]in terms of content, than any game we’ve made.” The Bethesda director went on to talk about the breadth of crafted features players can expect, stating that there are already over 200,000 dialog lines defined in star field. It seems that by Starfield the main quest will be where most of this crafting content resides. “If people just want to do what they’re used to in our games,” Howard continued, “and follow a main quest and do the questlines, you’re going to see what you want from us.”
It is therefore possible that the open world of star field will have more of a procedurally generated feel while everything the player needs to do to complete the main objectives will have close attention to detail. According to Howard, this isn’t exactly a huge leap from what Bethesda has done before with its previous titles, as he claimed that procedural generation was used for landscape and quest generation in Skyrim. Bethesda would also use its old titles, as Todd Howard says The Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall is a game that the company looks at a lot “in terms of game flow”.
If a player wants to see what the 1,000+ planets have to offer in star field, or if they just want to fulfill the main objectives, it looks like Bethesda’s next title will have a lot to do. According to recent reports, by Starfield the main quest will be longer than Skyrim Where Fallout 4, requiring about 30 to 40 hours. Considering how long secondary objectives could take, dedicated players will likely want to be prepared to put in hundreds of hours to Star field.
