The 30th Tewksbury Art Exhibition, Sale, to Benefit the Tewksbury Historical Society, Begins Saturday October 8 | Hunterdon Magazine News

An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 7. Karen Ross and her committee have planned a fun evening where all the prizes will be announced. Advance tickets are $30 and can be purchased until October 6, 6 p.m., at www.tewksburyhistory.net; tickets at the door are $35.

Prizes will be awarded for “Best in Show”, “Best of Tewksbury”, “Marion Katnack Award – Tewksbury Landscape”, as well as honorable mentions for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category.

In addition to the works of art submitted to the jury, buyers can also purchase small works and portfolio items. All artwork is submitted by the artists represented in the Salon. This is an opportunity to own the work of an artist whose work is “up and coming” at a reasonable price, while supporting THS. The company earns a small percentage of all items sold during the week.

Robert Beck, the Sselection judge, attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. Originally from Bucks County, he has studios in New Hope, Pennsylvania, and New York. He has exhibited his works at the James A. Michener Art Museum, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and the Marine Maritime Museum, among others. He is known for painting in “visual essay”, approaching subjects through multiple images.

Awards judge Wendell Jeffrey earned a master’s degree in art education from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence. She has completed residencies at the Golden Foundation (New Acimo, Ghana); Guttenberg Arts (Guttenberg); Vermont Studio Center (Johnson, Vermont) and the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts (Deer Isle, Maine). She was an art teacher in the public school system for 27 years, now at Ridge High School in Basking Ridge. She has worked in collaboration with several artists, including the 2022 NJ Climate Resilience Public Art Project with Amanda Thackray for the Four Corners Public Arts in Newark.

The show continues until Saturday, October 15. Public viewing and sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 8; 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 9; noon to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, October 10 to 14; and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 15. General admission tickets are $5.
