GREENSBORO, NC (theACC.com) – The seeds and tournament draw have been established for the 2022 Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Championship, which will be held November 1, 2 and 4 (Tuesday-Wednesday and Friday) at Williams Field in the Jack Katz Stadium on the Duke campus. University.
The five-time defending champion from North Carolina (15-0, 6-0 ACC) is the No. 1 seed and earned a bye to Wednesday’s semifinal at 1 p.m. The nationally-ranked Tar Heels will face the winner of Tuesday’s quarterfinal game at 1 p.m. between No. 4 Boston College (8-9, 3-3) and No. 5 Syracuse (14- 4, 3-3).
Tuesday’s other opening day quarter-final finds No. 7 Duke (7-10, 0-6) against No. 2 Wake Forest (14-4, 5-1) at 3:30 p.m., while the No. 3 Virginia (11-6, 3-3) takes on No. 6 Louisville (12-6, 1-5) at 6 p.m.
Wednesday’s second semi-final is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. The winners of the semi-finals will meet for the championship at 2 p.m. Friday.
This year’s championship will feature four teams currently ranked in the top 10 in the latest NFHCA poll – No. 1 in North Carolina, No. 5 in Virginia, No. 8 in Louisville and No. 9 in Syracuse. All seven ACC teams are ranked nationally, with Wake Forest at No. 12, Boston College at No. 22 and Duke at No. 25.
ACC Network will broadcast all action from the tournament live, with Leah Secondo and Suzanne Bush on the call.
