The RR Race Edition bikes are Beta’s top-of-the-line models with eight different versions available for 2023. Four different two-strokes include the 125, 200, 250 and 300 while the 350, 390, 430 and 480 are the four four-strokes. models. RR Race editions include add-ons such as footpegs, graphics, gripper seat cover, traction control and Kayaba suspension.
The 300 RX is a motocross-specific open-class racer. The 300cc two-stroke powerplant is unique to this model.
The official Beta press release can be read below.
Beta is pleased to announce the 2023 RR Racing and 300 RX models to warm the hearts of off-road driving fans! In keeping with Beta tradition, the RR Racing bike range is complete with everything needed to ride for leisure or race at the highest level in the harshest conditions! Eight Race Edition models available for 2023, four different 2-strokes and four in 4-stroke sizes ensure there is a powerhouse designed for every rider.
Key to the Race Edition 2- and 4-stroke and 300 RX models is the introduction of the Kayaba (KYB) rear shock absorber, specially designed by Japanese suspension experts who collaborated with Beta Italy’s top engineers to create a suspension second to none. This, combined with the usual added racing components and graphics, creates a range of models for most rider abilities. Also highlighting the sleek shape are the new radiator shrouds introduced on the RR a few months ago, and a number of different components, such as the all-new designed handguards.
RR Race Editions include the following:
- Quick Release Front Axle Pull: Red anodized alloy lever for quick front axle removal during tire swaps. (Not included on the 300 RX)
- Reinforced handguards: The new handguards, designed and manufactured in-house by Beta, feature a two-component material mold, in red and blue, which not only gives the bike a racing look, but also a larger size for better protection.
- Metzeler Tyres: Known for their off-road performance as well as their long-lasting compound, the tires are an added bonus for all riders. (Michelin Starcross on 300 RX)
- Billet Aluminum Footpegs: Extra wide with stainless steel grip pins providing the rider with a strong yet lightweight platform.
- Rear sprocket with anodized aluminum core and steel teeth by ZF: the light weight of aluminum with the added wear of the steel outer ring. This sprocket is sold as an accessory on most models, but comes standard with every Race Edition.
- Dedicated Blue Gripper Seat: Non-slip coating and built-in pouch provide unmatched grip, comfort and looks.
- Black anodized gear lever and rear brake pedal: a nice touch added to the Race editions.
- Gearbox oil filler cap, engine oil filler cap and oil filter cap in red anodized aluminum.
- Red machined aluminum chain adjusters.
- New Racing graphics with red and blue wheel decals. (Blue rims on RX model)
Suspension
Kayaba AOS 48mm Closed Cartridge Spring Fork: In front of the suspension, the 2023 retains KYB’s closed cartridge fork. This product has been continuously refined through the collaboration between Beta and Kayaba, giving shape to a highly specialized component that maximizes the performance of the Race Edition models. Anodized internals and new material treatments minimize sliding friction, while adjustable compression and rebound damping allow every rider to find the perfect customization of settings. Beta engineers have recalibrated the setting so that the fork works optimally in synergy with the new rear shock.
Kayaba C46 shock absorber: The main change regarding the suspension of the RR Race editions and 300 RX models is the first-ever use of a KYB rear shock, specifically designed and manufactured for the Beta 2 and 4-stroke RR Racing and RX models . The hydraulic tuning of the new shock can be fully customized by adjusting the external compression (both high and low speed) and rebound settings. Joint research by Kayaba engineers and the Beta Italy R&D department in Florence has led to the development of a particularly effective shock absorber to improve the handling of the bike in all conditions. KYB shocks are considered the gold standard on the racing scene in terms of their ability to absorb big, square-edged hits while still providing a smooth ride over smaller, weaker speed bumps. on the RX model)
Traction control – 4 stroke
Enhancing the overall performance of 4-stroke models, traction control is included with every Race Edition 4-stroke model. The Traction Control function can be engaged at any time from the button on the control panel just above the gas filler. As the TC function and Motor Map Select function are controlled from this panel, it has two control buttons and two separate LEDs for the two functions. This system modifies the ignition to slow the speed of the rear wheel in slippery situations.
Premix
To save weight, all 2 Stroke Race Edition and 300 RX models are set to run on premix, but oil injection can be added as an accessory to Race Editions.
Motor – Models 200 and 300
In the previous model year Beta made some changes to the power unit to improve the performance of the 200 and 300 Race Edition models, these changes have been carried over for 2023. The 200cc and 300cc engines therefore differ from the models basis in the following respects:
300 Race: Compared to the RR models, the cylinder of the 300cc engine now features modified exhaust and transfer geometry and a different cylinder head, combined with a differently calibrated power valve. The cylinder head, which differs from the standard both in terms of modified flow geometry and combustion chamber geometry, ensures a higher compression ratio, which leads to a substantial increase in performance. To better handle the engine’s increased power, the power valve has also been modified, changing the internal spring and timing system to ensure full-bodied, easily accessible power delivery throughout the rev range. Different ignition timings complete the package.
300 RX: The RX engine is unique to this model only, with a bore and stroke of 72mm x 72mm, a smaller crankshaft, combined with a larger 38mm Keihin carburettor for the maximum performance required in Moto conditions .
200 Race: The 200 cc engine also retains a different cylinder head from the standard version, as well as a single stiffer power valve, instead of the two used in the RR. All of this contributes to increased horsepower at mid to high revs.
300 RX
Developed for the American market, the 300 RX continues to send shockwaves through the motocross market. A set of engines that Motocross Action magazine cited as “The closest sound to a factory bike you can buy,” the 300 offers open-class racers a bike that’s very light but features electric start. . A vet-class weapon or also an ideal off-road racing bike, the RX is built for competition!
