No, you read that right and it’s not deja vu. Modern Warfare II, not to be confused with Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 from 2009, is the annual installment of 2023 in the greatest series of games on earth. This is the continuation of 2019 modern warfare and the next game after we returned to WWII last year in Avant-garde, and this title has a lot of weight on his shoulders. For many, the series has felt stale and uninspired lately, but Ghost’s return with Task Force 141, and a callback to perhaps the most popular game in the series, can’t be for nothing.
Call of Duty fans, for the most part, are already sold on Modern Warfare II. It’s a sure bet of a game if you’re looking for a solid, high-action, competitive roller coaster game. At the same time, in modern times, Modern Warfare II is not just a buy-and-forget game. There’s plenty of additional content to complement your base experience, some of which can only be obtained through pre-orders and purchases of specific editions. While there are no RC cars or night vision goggles this time around, you’ll definitely want to check out what you can add to your loadout at launch.

Where can I pre-order Modern Warfare II?
As is usually the case, the easiest way to pre-order Modern Warfare II is across the official call of duty website. Here, you can easily select your platform of choice, as well as the edition you want, and be directed directly to the appropriate storefront to pre-order. You can get the game through PlayStation, Xbox, BattleNet or Steam.
Standard/inter-generation pack
We’re grouping these two together because they’re identical in every way, except they just call it the Cross-Gen Bundle standard for PC platforms because obviously they only need one version. The cover art for this release is a close-up of Ghost’s masked face. This edition costs $70 and contains the following:
- The base Modern Warfare II game for consoles or PC of last and current generation
- Early Access to Open Beta
- PlayStation players will also get additional access to the beta before other platforms.
Vault Edition
The only enhanced edition for Modern Warfare II is called the Vault Edition which bumps the price up to $100. Ghost is still the star of the cover, only now aiming down the sights of a rifle. Here’s what you’ll find when you open the Vault edition:
- Everything included in the Standard or Cross-Gen Bundle editions
- The Ghost Legacy Pack for Modern Warfare II and war zone, which includes 12 Ghost Operator skins, 10 weapon blueprints, the Final Judgment Pack, and the ability to preload the game
- Red Team 141 Operator Pack, which includes Operators Ghost, Soap, Farah, and Price
- FJX Cinder Weapon Chest
- The Season 1 Battle Pass
- 50 level skips
