BBQ-topped Texas pizzas and microbrew beers are on the menu at Brack’s Backyard, a new outdoor restaurant opening July 2022 on County Road 413 in Spicewood.
“We will be serving several different varieties of pizza – American, Detroit and Chicago style – and will use barbecue on some of them,” said owner Robert Brackenridge.
“We texify the nature of the pizza by adding barbecue meats such as brisket, pulled pork and sausage,” he said.
The barbecue toppings will be cooked on site. The dough will go through a 48-hour process in preparation for the unique pizza combinations, which can be enjoyed under a protective pavilion.
Robert and his wife Tracey will cook the pizza in a food truck at the side of the pavilion.

The beer will be fermented on site by Brackenridge, which has been brewing for about 20 years.
“We will be offering a nice variety of traditional American beers: lagers, IPAs and red IPAs,” he said.
The couple have had a vision for the brewery for years and bought the Spicewood property in 2019 with that in mind. Soon after, the pandemic hit, thwarting their plans – at least for a while.
“We’re looking forward to having a community here instead of having to drive farther for a nice weekend afternoon,” Tracey said.
Brack’s Backyard is located approximately half a mile from Texas 71 in Spicewood at 500 CR 413 (Gregg Drive). It will be open from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. from Thursday to Sunday.
Guests will notice the collection of old Chevy trucks parked on approximately 5 acres. One of the trucks is missing a door to entice customers to climb inside and take pictures.
Robert has been collecting old trucks for years. He decorated each with “Brack’s Beer” or “Brack’s Backyard”. You will see at least four of them from the road. Next to the pavilion is an old school bus painted with images of the Beatles.
