Ash Barty can now officially add “children’s book author” to his already impressive resume.
The Australian tennis star today released his own series of children’s books based on the real-life experiences of the sports legend and his family.
The 25-year-old launched the early reader series, called Little Ash, alongside her niece Lucy and friends at the State Library of Queensland.

Barty has teamed up with First Nations writer Jasmin McGaughey and illustrator Jade Goodwin to bring the series about school, sports, friendship and family to life.
“Little Ash’s stories are inspired by my childhood. Although not completely factual, they do include some of my childhood memories and experiences and it was really fun to work on this project and bring those experiences to life,” Barty said.
“Kids will love them because they’re relatable, bright and fun.
“The illustrations are brilliant and the storytelling is amazing, and I was fortunate enough to work with Jasmin and Jade to bring this vision to life for children to enjoy.”
The career change comes after the three-time Grand Slam champion and world No.1 tennis player announced her surprise retirement in March.
In a video posted to Instagram, Barty said she “didn’t have the physical drive anymore” and it was time to “pursue other dreams.”
The first four titles in Ash’s new series of children’s books are on sale today, with his memoir and two other books in the Little Ash series coming out in November.
