Former Llanelli Town striker and now Penybont manager Rhys Griffiths has written a children’s book.
The 38-year-old who is in his second year of management, Division One side Penybont, has had his children’s book ‘Billy’s Grandad and the Search for Horris’ published.
The story was never intended for Griffiths children as a bedtime story, but has since been published in a book.
Griffiths was asked by his children to rehearse the story, before drawing pictures, where the idea for publication came from after family members suggested sending it to a publisher.
Penbont’s manager says to Sgorio: “I once made up a story about my own grandfather, who died ten years ago in November.
It was a chance to give some context to who he was because they often asked me who Grandpa Bill was, so I did that and didn’t think much about it.
It’s a lasting legacy of who my grandfather was, my kids, I love it.
The Cardiff-born striker who is the Welsh Premier League’s second all-time top scorer, scoring 269 goals in 342 appearances, hasn’t ruled out writing another book, should it sell out.
“I don’t want to be known as someone who played football and coached, I just want to do the next thing.
If it starts to do well and it starts to sell, then I would definitely do more, if I have a lot of stories. He was a wonderful man, so every time I was with him we had a wonderful adventure.
Manager of Llandudno Iwan Williams and presenter Sgorio Nicholas Jean already purchased a copy of the book.
